? Do you have experience in dimensional inspection, metrology, or precision measurement in aerospace or a similar high‑precision manufacturing environment? Acara Solutions is seeking a highly qualified PCMM Operator to work onsite with our client in Bertram, TX.
Here’s what you’d do:
- The Portable Coordinate Measuring Machine (PCMM) Quality Inspector is responsible for performing precision dimensional inspections using laser tracker systems to support aerospace component manufacturing, assembly, and verification activities.
- This role ensures that complex, tight‑tolerance parts and assemblies meet engineering, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- The inspector will play a key role in providing accurate measurement data, supporting root cause investigations, and maintaining compliance with the Quality Management System.
- Set up, program, and operate PCMM equipment (e.g., Leica and Hexagon Absolute Arm) for high‑accuracy dimensional inspections.
- Perform part and assembly alignment, layout, first article inspections (FAI), and in‑process verification using 3D metrology tools.
- Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, GD&T, and customer specifications to create accurate measurement plans.
- Analyze measurement results, compare to nominal CAD data, and clearly document deviations.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, including measurement data, deviation records, and nonconformance documentation (NCRs).
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with AS9100, internal procedures, and customer requirements.
- Ensure inspections meet internal standards and all aerospace regulatory requirements.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities when dimensional issues are identified.
- Support calibration and maintenance of laser tracker systems and associated tooling/fixtures.
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to plan inspections and optimize measurement strategies.
- Provide technical guidance on dimensional measurement to production teams and assist in resolving build issues.

Job Requirements Required Skills / Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years of experience in dimensional inspection, metrology, or precision measurement in aerospace or a similar high‑precision manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2 years of experience using metrology software such as PC‑DMIS, Spatial Analyzer, or similar.
- Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience operating laser tracker systems (FARO, API, Leica, or similar).
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality systems.
- Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and ability to read complex aerospace engineering drawings.
- High attention to detail and precision.
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to interpret CAD models and work with digital manufacturing data.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspection priorities.
- Strong spatial reasoning and 3D visualization skills.
- The ability to understand complex GD&T and be able to apply that to metrology.
- Technical curiosity and willingness to learn advanced metrology techniques.
- Collaborative mindset with an ability to work across engineering and production teams.
- Good communication skills – able to take highly technical concepts and effectively communicate and explain with those less familiar or less technical.
- Dependable, organized, and safety‑focused.
