JOB PURPOSE
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Specialist is responsible for driving operational excellence and process improvement initiatives at our Hazleton, PA facility. This role will focus on identifying inefficiencies, implementing Lean methodologies, and supporting a culture of continuous improvement to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize overall operational performance.
Description Of Essential Duties- Lead and facilitate CI initiatives to improve manufacturing processes, quality, and efficiency.
- Analyze current production workflows and identify areas for improvement, implementing best practices.
- Conduct time studies, root cause analyses, and problem‑solving sessions to drive efficiency and cost reduction.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including production, maintenance, quality, and supply chain, to implement process improvements.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on CI methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Utilize data analytics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track improvements and report findings to leadership.
- Support the implementation of automation and new technology to enhance productivity and safety.
- Facilitate Kaizen events, value‑stream mapping, and other structured improvement activities.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements while implementing CI projects.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement by engaging employees at all levels and fostering a problem‑solving mindset.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food production.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis, statistical tools, and root‑cause problem‑solving techniques.
- Ability to learn and utilize CI tools such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen, PDCA, and DMAIC.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage teams at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems, and data visualization tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and drive initiatives in a fast‑paced environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, walk, and move from place to place.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENTThe employee may be frequently exposed to allergens and/or airborne particles in the production area. Production employees are exposed to temperatures ranging from 50 to 100 degrees, depending on the season and workstation, and may be working near moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions may occur.
The noise level in the work environment may be loud while production equipment is running.
Personal protection equipment (including, but not limited to, boots, gloves, safety glasses, and/or face shields) is required during various processes in the production area. Ear plugs and bump caps are always required in the production area.
