General Summary

Performs a variety of unskilled and manual tasks relating to the operation of plant equipment and vehicles including loading, unloading, transfer and relocation of materials. Also cleans, washes, and performs minor repairs to equipment, vehicles, machines, facilities, and premises.

• Cleans plant spillage in all areas of the plant.
• Operates equipment and machinery such as bobcat, front-end loader, and dump truck to clean up specified areas.
• Performs minor plant maintenance including oil changes and greasing of plant equipment.
• Assists plant operator with general maintenance tasks.
• Operates various hand and power tools such as air hammer, air chipping gun, shovel, hoes, screwdrivers, and brooms.
• Stacks and sorts supplies used in plant, shop, office, or vehicular activities.
• Responsible for immediately reporting all unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Required to maintain equipment safety checklists and plant log.
• Responsible for completing area audits.
• Maintains work area and equipment in a safe and clean condition at all times.
• Responsible to abide by and support all company and plant safety policies, rules, and procedures as well as M.S.H.A regulations.

• Successful completion of high school or GED certificate is preferred.
• Six months experience in the operation of heavy vehicles and equipment such as bobcat, front-end loader, forklift, and dump truck preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of stone plant or related construction site operations is preferred but not required.
• Must be capable of reading, understanding, and obeying all safety rules and regulations, equipment operating instructions and danger notices.
• Must have mechanical aptitude.
• Must possess good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Must possess attention to detail, and commitment to task.

• Ability to listen and understand information presented through spoken words.
• Ability to communicate information in speaking.
• Ability to read and understand information presented in writing.
• Ability to communicate effectively using appropriate interpersonal skills.
• Ability to supervise own work and be self-motivated.
• Ability to abide by company safety policies and procedures and to work safely within a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to occasionally travel (including overnight) up to one (1) week at a time.
