Position Summary
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Sorter Operator will be responsible for operating the Sorters and overseeing the lab. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail‑oriented, and safety‑conscious, with a willingness to learn and improve. The role is a team‑oriented position where close cooperation with co‑workers is essential, and on‑the‑job training will be provided.
Position Responsibilities- Ensure all equipment is safely used, properly maintained, and clean.
- Maintain adequate product levels in sorter bins and report insufficient levels to the Shift Supervisor.
- Operate sorters to achieve maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
- Understand and support total lab operations.
- Test samples as required and report results directly to the Shift Superintendent.
- Adhere to GMP rules, sanitation, and quality & food safety programs, and follow all company, federal, and state rules and regulations, including right‑to‑know, emergency evacuation, electrical safety, confined space, blood‑borne pathogens, and lockout/tagout.
- Keep the Shift Superintendent fully informed of all problems, recommending solutions.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, and assist in keeping bins, elevators, and catch‑out area clean.
- Follow the sanitation schedule for all assigned areas.
- Execute special projects and other job‑related activities as directed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience in a food production environment is preferred but not required.
- This role is performed on site at a facility that regularly processes peanuts. Employees in this position will routinely work in areas where peanuts and related allergens are present and may be exposed by contact or in the air.
