Commercial Manager – Marine Projects

Overview

Our Client is a leading engineering and construction organisation delivering complex, large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects across the Asia-Pacific region, with a strong focus on safety, governance, and commercial excellence.

• Employment type: Project-based, with opportunity to transfer to future projects

• Bonus: 13th-month AWS (no variable bonus)

• Working hours:

  • Weekdays: 8:00am – 6:00pm

  • Alternate Saturdays: 8:00am – 4:00pm

• Transport: Company pick-up provided from Tanah Merah MRT

• Take full ownership of all commercial and contractual activities for the project until final account settlement.

• Administer and manage the Head Contract, subcontractor, and supplier agreements.

• Ensure all contractual obligations, deliverables, variations, and claims are properly managed and closed.

• Lead contractual close-out, including final accounts, variation settlements, and final payments.

• Lead all variation and claims management activities, including preparation, negotiation, and settlement.

• Provide timely notification and escalation of potential claims and commercial risks.

• Manage contractual disputes in accordance with agreed dispute resolution procedures.

• Coordinate with regional commercial leadership on complex dispute matters.

• Monitor cost control, cash flow forecasting, and monthly commercial forecasts.

• Maintain and update risk and opportunity registers, converting opportunities into measurable outcomes.

• Support the review of monthly project financial reports.

• Act as the key commercial advisor to the Project Manager and Project Team.

• Draft and review contractual correspondence, legal letters, amendments, claims, and formal notices.

• Participate in commercial negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and consultants.

• Maintain accurate contractual records, correspondence, and commercial documentation.

• Ensure compliance with company commercial policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.

• Coordinate insurance coverage, bonds, and securities with internal legal and insurance teams.

• Deliver regular contract awareness and commercial training to the Project Team.

• Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives across commercial standards.

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in commercial / contractual management within large-scale engineering or construction projects.

• Proven experience managing high-value contracts (similar scale to $100M projects).

• Strong background in contract administration, claims, variations, and dispute management
  .

• Excellent negotiation skills and confidence in client-facing commercial discussions.

• Strong capability in drafting legal and contractual correspondence.

• Relevant tertiary qualifications;
  formal legal training highly advantageous
  .
