Position: Public Works Field Technician I (Streets and Drainage)
Location: Colleyville

SIGN-ON INCENTIVE PROGRAM:$2,000 sign-on incentive upon hire

Under general supervision, the purpose of the job is to perform routine maintenance and operational activities associated with streets and drainage systems.

The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.
  • Performs manual and semi-skilled labor tasks related to construction, repair, and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, and storm drainage systems; cuts out streets and driveways; sets forms for concrete work, finish concrete work, raking asphalt and pothole repairs (hot or cold), manually excavates, backfills and compacts excavated areas to facilitate repair; installs erosion control material (riprap, sandbags).
  • Pick up trash and debris, cleans round-a-bouts.
  • Performs routine safety inspections.
  • Transports materials, tools and equipment to and from job sites; setups and removes warning signs and traffic control devices.
  • Operates and services equipment such as skid steer, coring machine, pothole patch truck, and compactors. Operates light vehicles and machinery. Operates hand tools and power tools.
  • Assists with cleaning and upkeep of vehicles and maintains checklist; cleans work area.
  • Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
  • Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
  • Must report to work for duty outside normally scheduled work hours in response to natural disasters, emergencies or critical incidents as determined by City Administration.
  • Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Texas Driver’s License.
  • Must possess a Class B CDL with required endorsements or possess CDL permit or obtain license and endorsements within six (6) months of hire.
SALARY RANGE:$17.2813 - $25.0828 per hour, DOQ #J-18808-Ljbffr
