Job Description

Purpose of the Role

  • The Instrumentation Mechanician is responsible for providing dedicated technical and operational systems support to the process division.
  • The role requires a degree of competence in instrumentation used in highly automated plants.
  • The role is further responsible to ensure that all systems are maintained and optimised to maximize the capacity of the production process.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Support the achievement of the operational plan
  • Identify areas of poor availability
  • Disseminate best practice in instrumentation aspects
  • System trouble shooting and hardware problem resolution
  • Support on existing instrumentation
  • Calibration and maintenance of all equipment within the control solution
  • Adherence to the Anglo Platinum Change Procedure
  • Adherence to Anglo Platinum Standards
  • Good employee relations: ensuring effective teamwork
  • Identify potential conflict situations and minimise the implications of possible conflict
  • Ensure that subordinates have clear work expectations and plans
  • Conduct on‑the‑job induction
  • Support, coach and participate in the training and development of subordinates and apprentices
  • Effective two‑way open communication with subordinates and line supervisor
  • Report at risk behaviour, incidents and injuries
  • Interact with other departments
  • Advise defects and abnormalities to appropriate supervisor or manager
Qualifications
  • Relevant Trade Certificate
  • Grade 12
Experience
  • Two years’ experience
