Underwriter​/Senior Underwriter

We are looking for an Underwriter / Senior Underwriter to join our team in Singapore.

As an underwriter in Gard Singapore, you handle P&I and Hull underwriting for South East Asian markets and clients. You will market and sell our full product range, evaluate new risks and negotiate renewals. You will travel across Southeast Asia to connect with our clients, prospects and global team as well as to our head office in Norway.

• Enter and renew contracts of insurance on behalf of the Gard Singapore Branches.
• Identify, review and assess risks faced by our clients to offer appropriate risk‑management solutions.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients and brokers and be an integral part of Gard’s business development.
• Be a Gard ambassador ensuring our partners get access to relevant underwriting, claims, loss prevention and risk management information and service.
• Monitor and analyse the performance of the portfolio.
• Share knowledge, information and experience across Gard’s global organisation.
• Assist with development of new underwriting products to meet the needs of our clients.

• You have a minimum of 5-10 years’ relevant experience from the shipping, marine insurance underwriting or broking industry.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and clients.
• Solution and result‑oriented mindset.
• Highly motivated to learn as well as share knowledge.
• A structured, service‑minded and curious approach to work.
• Enjoy working as a part of a team and across departments.
• A good command of written and spoken English is required.
