Note this role is Southland based and NZ wide travel is required.

This is a hands‑on position that requires strong technical ability, problem‑solving skills, and a proactive approach to field operations. You may find yourself maintaining and upgrading infrastructure one day and deploying new equipment on‑farm the next. You’ll be the go‑to person for ensuring everything runs smoothly, delivering exceptional service and support to our customers. As a Hardware Operations Technician, you’ll work closely with our hardware, product, and customer success teams, ensuring effective collaboration and a strong feedback loop between the field and our Auckland HQ.

This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact in transforming New Zealand’s dairy and livestock industry through world‑class agri‑tech innovation.

  • On‑call: Be part of the global on‑call roster to support tower‑related incidents and proactively find solutions in a timely manner.
  • Collaboration: Work closely across all of the Halter teams to ensure alignment and successful customer outcomes.
  • Problem‑Solving: Address and resolve technical challenges promptly and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to farm operations.
  • Adaptability: Be prepared to manage a variety of tasks, often simultaneously, to meet the dynamic needs of the role.
  • Data Analysis
    :
Ability to collect, interpret, and analyze data from our hardware, optimize processes, and inform decision‑making. You'll ensure that actionable insights are extracted to improve operational efficiency and resolve issues proactively.
  • Development and management of a maintenance system for our NZ market.
  • Travel: travel within the South Island region + some NZ wide travel will be required.

  • Handiness: Practical skills and resourcefulness, with the ability to handle a wide range of tasks even without specific technical training.
  • Time management skills: Ability to manage your own time so that tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Team‑Oriented Approach: Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different locations.
  • Commitment to Excellence: A dedication to providing the highest quality service, ensuring that Halter’s infrastructure is always operating at its best.
