Radiologic Technologist / CT Tech
Job Summary
Directs, supervises, and participates in the activities involved in providing radiologic services and support. Supervises the duties of department employees performing the functions of the department.
Job QualificationsEducation:
Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology. Associate of Science degree required, Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
Knowledge of radiologic equipment. Supervisory abilities and effective oral and written communication skills.
Licensure, Registry Or CertificationRegistered Radiologic Technologist with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and a Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) by Texas Department of Health.
ExperienceRegistered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Clinical Radiologic Technologists (ARCRT) and at least two years of supervised use of radiation machines.
Physical And Sensory Requirements(With or without the aid of mechanical devices)
Responsibilities- Position requires intermittent walking, sitting and standing. Some bending, stooping and reaching required with the lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional heavy lifting in supporting or moving patients that may suddenly become weak or helpless.
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
- Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with patients, providers, personnel, and support agencies.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of patients during emergency situations.
Other Significant Requirements:
- Under the guidance of a Radiologist, supervises and participates in providing radiology services for patients.
- Schedules procedures and exams.
- Performs procedures and radiologic exams.
- Supervises the radiology services provided by radiology staff members to assure compliance with established procedures.
- Maintains inventory levels of radiology supplies.
- Ensures radiology is adequately stocked with the supplies necessary for operation.
- Recommends purchases and manages the storage, control, and issue of supplies.
- Ensures that radiology equipment is in good working order.
- Directs or performs periodic and preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Reports equipment problems to the Administrator.
- Keeps abreast of new technology and recommends equipment modifications or acquisitions.
- Assists with the management of department functions and supervision of department personnel.
- Establishes work routines and schedules employees' work.
- Assists with the development of departmental policies, procedures, and practices.
- Monitors radiology procedures and provides quality improvement information to the Administrator.
- Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis. (per HIPPA guidelines)
- Maintains positive patient and technologist relationship.
- Interacts with Medical Staff members and other department managers on a continuous basis.
- Performs any other task or duties as deemed necessary by the Department Director and/or Hospital CEO/Administrator.
- Adheres to Clay County Memorial Hospital personnel policies.
- Follows aseptic procedures when involved in direct patient contact or handling potentially infectious materials.
Directly responsible to Department Director and/or hospital CEO / Administrator.
