Essential

Job Functions (EJFs)

The Dietetic Technician II performs routine (journey‑level) dietetic work. Work involves conducting nutritional screenings, implementing, and monitoring nutrition interventions as assigned by the Registered Dietitian, completing follow‑ups to patient care plans, and monitoring and providing meal plans and recipes. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Performs other duties as assigned. This includes actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Attends work on a regular basis and may be asked to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy.

Conducts nutritional screenings by interviewing the patient or patient's family, obtaining dietary history, and identifying any nutritional risk factors on admission for better nutritional care of the patient.

Collects data that contributes to the nutrition assessment of patients and clients; develops nutrition‑related priorities, goals, and objectives; and implements the nutrition care plan.

Implements and monitors nutrition interventions, as assigned by the Registered or Licensed Dietitian, to meet the nutritional needs of the patient or client, including, but not limited to, prescribed diets, snacks, medical foods, supplements, and monitoring data collection for nutrition support therapies (e.g., tube feeding).

Assists with providing ongoing nutritional management as a member of the treatment team and revises nutrition interventions in response to nutritional care. Functions as an integral part of the treatment process. Works closely with medical/nursing staff…
