Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Managed Care is seeking a full‑time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to provide psychiatric services in a correctional healthcare setting in Post, TX. Position OverviewThe Psychiatric APP provides outpatient mental health care to inmates with severe mental illness and those identified as high‑risk. This role emphasizes clinical assessment, risk management, documentation, and collaboration with medical, mental health, and security teams.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive clinical interviews and mental health assessments.
- Provide outpatient psychiatric care to inmates with severe mental illness or high‑risk profiles.
- Develop clinical assessments using sound, balanced judgment.
- Manage referrals to medical and mental health providers as appropriate.
- Facilitate and document releases from Crisis Development Observation (CDO), Mental Health Observation (MHO), and Behavioral Health Follow‑up (BHF).
- Ensure all clinical documentation is completed daily.
- Identify and manage mental health risks during all patient interactions.
- Report threats or safety concerns (e.g., Offender Protection Investigations) to security staff in accordance with the Safe Prisons Plan.
- Prioritize daily tasks with a strong focus on risk mitigation and patient safety.
- Maintain accurate patient records and reminders.
- Complete all required documentation by close of business each day.
- Adhere to TDCJ Health Services, ACA, TTUHSC, and Outpatient Behavioral Health guidelines.
- Meet or exceed monthly productivity goals established by the Behavioral Health Management Team.
- Respond professionally to supervision and apply feedback constructively.
- Keep supervisors informed of significant clinical or administrative issues.
- Attend trainings and review relevant materials to enhance clinical expertise.
- Utilize professional development funds for licensure renewal and continuing education.
