Position Summary

The Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring the operation of the CPLC Early Childhood Development (ECD) Nutrition Content Area. Ensures compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and Texas and New Mexico laws and regulations. Plans, develops, and implements training for staff, Family Child Care Providers, parents, and volunteers related to nutrition in collaboration with Health Coordinators.

Promotes school readiness by preparing children and families for school and life success. Actively supervise children by sight and sound at all times and in all environments. Maintain health and safety regulations to create an optimal learning environment. Facilitate health practices to keep children safe in the school bus, outdoor, and indoor environments.

Minimum Qualifications and Competencies

• A Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, social sciences, or other health-related field, and at least 2 years of experience.
• Experience working in a community health system serving culturally diverse, low-income children and families is preferred.
• Training or coursework in early childhood nutrition and children with special needs is a plus.
• Experience with comprehensive record-keeping systems.
• Proficiency with computers, projection equipment, software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe), and web-based systems.
• Ability to generate reports and understand their context within the program.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
• Must pass a criminal background check, including Child Abuse and Neglect registry, and obtain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance card. Also, must have or obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 6 months of employment. A Food Handler’s Manager Card is required within 30 days of hire.
