Overview

Police Officer (Entry Level and Lateral) – City of Bowie, Bowie, MD.

• Maintain order, protect life and property, and uphold the laws of the State of Maryland and the ordinances of the City of Bowie.
• Perform regularly assigned duties under General Orders.

• 21 years or older upon graduation from the Academy
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• U.S. citizen
• Valid Maryland Driver’s license
• Must pass physical agility test, written exam, background check, and drug screening
• COVID-19 vaccination is strongly preferred

• Entry-level rate: $29.82 per hour ($62,018.18 annually)
• Lateral officers may be eligible to start at up to $38.66 per hour ($80,401.68 annually) upon approval from the Chief of Police
• Eligible for hiring bonuses upon start of FTO: half paid at start; remainder paid on the next hire date anniversary
