Headquartered in Downtown Houston, the Golden Pass LNG organization expects to double in size over the next several years as we complete the project, commence natural gas trading activities, and ramp up towards full LNG production. Once full operations commence, Golden Pass LNG will become the second largest consumer of natural gas in the US and produce more than 200 cargos of LNG per annum.
Job Summary / Purpose
The Electrical Technician II is responsible for conducting complex electrical low and high-voltage maintenance activities at Golden Pass LNG (GPLNG) plant safely and competently, without supervision. Prioritize electrical maintenance work through Risk-based Work selection to ensure short- and long-term LNG plant safe condition, reliable operation and integrity. Apply best-in-class safe work practices to electrical maintenance including consideration of SIMOPS; ensure "nobody gets hurt".
Provide on-the-job training for less experienced electrical maintenance technicians such that the electrical maintenance team performance is continually improved. Interface with Plant Operations, other Maintenance disciplines, Engineering and Safety, Health and Environment to ensure best-in-class LNG Plant safety and reliability.
Essential Duties / Functions
1. Technical Leadership
* Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance on low‑ and high‑voltage electrical systems within the LNG manufacturing trains, Utilities, Storage, and LNG tanker loading areas
* Apply proper tools, diagnostic equipment, vendor literature, technical manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams to execute work correctly
* Demonstrate sound technical judgment when isolating, testing, and restoring electrical systems
* Reviews work packs in advance (i.e., at least 12-24 hrs.) develops required PSMS discussions and permits for Supervisor review
2. Reliability & Optimization
* Troubleshoot low‑ and high‑voltage electrical issues that impact safety, equipment reliability, or overall plant integrity
* Take proactive steps to prevent potential failures, unsafe conditions, and threats to operational continuity
* Report bad‑actor equipment observations to the Maintenance Reliability Team to support root‑cause investigations and improvements
3. Compliance & Documentation
* Ensure adherence to the Golden Pass Management System (GPMS) safety guidelines, particularly for electrical work impacting SIMOPS
* Verify that all maintenance tasks include required process safety risk assessments, proper isolation, verification testing, and safe‑to‑start job readiness steps
* Provide accurate, complete, and timely reporting in the Centralized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including work performed, findings, parts used, and test results
4. Mentorship & Training
* Mentor Electrical apprentice and level 1 technicians in Electrical best practice
* Maintain and reinforce competency in safe electrical work practices, including LOTO, arc‑flash boundaries, equipment isolation, and electrical testing
* Coach and continue skill development related to diagnostics, maintenance techniques, and safe working procedures for both LV and HV systems
* Participate in refresher training tied to GPMS, SIMOPS awareness, emergency response, and updates to electrical standards or procedures
5. Innovation & Technology
* Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and testing technologies (e.g., insulation resistance testers, thermal imaging, relay testing equipment) to improve troubleshooting accuracy and maintenance quality
