Process Safety Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Process Safety Engineer to support operations at a large-scale LNG liquefaction and export facility in the Corpus Christi area. This role will be responsible for supporting the site's Process Safety Management (PSM) program and ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation of complex process systems.
The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and HSE teams to identify, evaluate, and mitigate process safety risks while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
Key Responsibilities- Support implementation and continuous improvement of the site Process Safety Management (PSM) program in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR requirements.
- Participate in and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) including HAZOP, LOPA, What-If, and revalidation studies.
- Track and support closure of PHA recommendations and risk mitigation actions.
- Lead or support Management of Change (MOC) reviews to ensure process safety risks are properly evaluated.
- Perform consequence analysis and risk assessments related to process safety events.
- Support incident investigations utilizing root cause analysis methodologies and develop corrective actions.
- Review operating procedures to ensure alignment with process safety requirements.
- Provide technical guidance related to relief systems, safe operating limits, and hazard prevention.
- Support compliance audits and regulatory inspections.
- Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to promote strong process safety culture and awareness.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10+ years of Process Safety or Process Engineering experience within oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, or refining operations.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA PSM regulations and risk management principles.
- Experience facilitating or participating in PHA/HAZOP studies.
- Familiarity with LNG or gas processing operations preferred.
- Demonstrated experience supporting operating facilities (not solely design projects).
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience supporting LNG liquefaction or large hydrocarbon processing facilities.
- Knowledge of consequence modeling or risk analysis tools (e.g., PHAST or similar).
- Experience with incident investigation methodologies (TapRooT®, RCA, or equivalent).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward certification is a plus.
