Role: Instrument and Controls Coordinator/Automation Technician

Job Description: The Instrument Controls Coordinator serves as a subject matter expert for instrumentation, control systems, and analyzers (I&C). This position requires a strong understanding of safety, health, and environmental requirements while providing technical expertise to maintenance teams. The ideal candidate demonstrates advanced maintenance skills for instrumentation equipment and control systems, can provide support for complex troubleshooting, and participates in constructability and maintenance design reviews.
This role requires the ability to influence without authority and effectively interact with operations and maintenance organizations. The position may include responsibilities as an I&C Coordinator, Analyzer Technician, Document Control Services (DCS) Technician, or PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) Technician.
- Implement maintenance design philosophies including project specifications for instrumentation and control systems
- Provide technical support and coordination for risk assessments, incident investigations, and conceptual design studies
- Support coordination of cost management and productivity improvement plans
- Assist operating teams with troubleshooting complex issues, particularly during peak operational periods
- Provide technical input to training development and delivery
- Share best practices and provide feedback for continuous improvement
- Participate in professional networks and industry groups
- Develop strong personal expertise and share knowledge with others through networking and mentoring
- Review and evaluate technical documentation for accuracy and compliance with standards
- Support maintenance planning and execution activities related to instrumentation and control systems
- Previous experience in instrumentation, controls, or a closely related technical position
- Discipline-appropriate certification(s) or equivalent professional experience in instrumentation and controls
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation, control systems, PLCs, and analyzers
- Experience with maintenance planning, scheduling, and management of I&C systems
- Demonstrated understanding of Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental (SSHE) management in operations and maintenance
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for complex instrumentation and control system issues
- Strong analytical capability and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills; ability to clearly describe technical conditions and recommend remediation steps
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and changing priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of software programs
- Experience with control system software and relevant industry tools preferred
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics

Pay: $65/hr
