Duties
* Performs complete studies of limited scope or portions of larger projects, modifying/adapting techniques to fit situations, some requiring innovative approaches.
* Utilizes scientific inquiry in the development of mathematical models and computer programs to evaluate and predict the ability to support assigned projects, studies, or problems.
* Provides technical guidance, advisory support, and assistance.
* Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to program planning, advanced technologies, and support system concepts.
* Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency through professional interaction with technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposia, contractors, research and development (R&D) organizations, by reading/reviewing technical journals and current literature, and participation in formal training programs. * Must exhibit a high degree of judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and the ability to foresee the impact of changing technology.
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations in performance of temporary duty (TDY).

* This position has been designated as Non-Critical Sensitive. The employee is required to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance as a condition of employment.
* This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
* Employee's typical workweek is 40 hours. Overtime may be required on short notice after normal duty hours.
* This position is designated as part of the Cyberspace Workforce. As a condition of employment, the incumbent is required to achieve both the foundational (within 9 months) and resident (within 12 months) qualification requirements (continued below)
* outlined in IAW DODM 8140.03 for each work role at the assigned proficiency levels. A waiver of these requirements may be granted. Failure to achieve qualification or to obtain an approved waiver for cyberspace work role(s) (continued below)
* within stated timelines will be removed from the duties associated with the work role. In addition, a minimum of 20 hours per year of Continuous Professional Development or education activities is required to maintain and enhance competence.
* Disclosure of Political Appointments Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-1515 Operations Research Series. BASIC REQUIREMENT Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics.
At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED
EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes experience in a wide range of complex methods and techniques used in operations research studies to recommend those suitable for producing explicit findings and discriminating evaluations. Experience skill in applying and adapting standard approaches to gather, analyze, and evaluate information concerning complex processes, operations, or questions typified by conventional relationships.
