Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for an Engineer Systems Test – System Operator (26-005) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. Based at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2

BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations systematically, monitor the battle collectively, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals.

C2

BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations globally and regionally to improve performance. C2

BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate current and future missile defense system capabilities.

The System Test Team plans and analyzes all MDS ground and flight tests in which the C2

BMC program participates. Ground test types include pairwise tests, Continuous Developmental Integration (CDI), Integrated Ground Test (GTI), Distributed Ground Test (GTD), cyber tests, Space Domain Awareness (SDA), and pre-flight test HWIL efforts. Flight tests are conducted with pre-determined sensors and shooters. International events comprise various ground and flight tests.

Essential Functions
  • Support the C2

BMC System Test & Integration group. This includes configuring and operating C2

BMC systems, servers, and other components during ground tests in an HWIL environment and, eventually, in the operational environment

  • Data collection and staging will also be performed in coordination with the System Test Data Manager

  • The candidate will become knowledgeable in the architecture, network, and data flows of the complex C2

BMC system and its interoperability with other Missile Defense System sensors, shooters, and elements, providing an opportunity to evolve into a System Integrator

  • Ensuring systems are successfully integrated before test events or operational fielding

  • Another growth opportunity is with the System Test Engineer group

  • This team is responsible for the detailed planning and execution of ground- and flight tests, including the production of all required test artifacts

Basic Qualifications

Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in STEM Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 2 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a STEM
