ENGINEER DESIGN role at Daikin Comfort

Create, analyze and document new product designs from the requirements provided for Daikin’s high volume residential and commercial HVAC products including VRV products. Support the development and sustainment of bill of materials, drawings, specifications and prototypes using engineering analysis and judgment. Ensure the product meets all internal and external safety and regulatory standards. Create, revise, and sustain HVAC product designs, utilizing knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.

Develop project scope based on product & project requirements. Oversee the development and execution of test plan and system testing including but not limited to psychometric, transit, airflow, component, and safety tests. Develop project schedules related to new and existing HVAC product designs. Analyze product designs using engineering tools including but not limited to tolerance, thermodynamic, finite element, and computational fluid dynamic analyses.

Lead development of system & component DFMEA. Document product designs by preparing bills of materials, cost analyses, drawings, and engineering change requests. Assist in redesigning internal components to improve overall long-term system quality, improve efficiency & reduce cost. Develop engineering solutions to product related issues through problem solving and root cause analysis techniques. Participate in cross functional teams to launch products, resolve issues, and support product improvements.

Coordinate project work internally with the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget. Communicate potential technical, schedule, cost & safety risks in a timely fashion. Work with suppliers to improve quality and resolve product issues. Assist manufacturing with product launches and issue resolution. Drive continuous improvement projects related to product design and quality.

Mentor entry level engineers.

Minimum Education Requirement
:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a closely related field.

Minimum Experience Requirement
:
Five (5) years of experience with a HVAC manufacturer in designing and sustaining specifications for HVAC products and performing prototype testing.
