Overview
ENGIE North America is hiring a Battery Energy System Storage (BESS) Tech I for our Chillingham Solar/Storage Facility in Rogers, TX. You will be responsible for executing field response for reactive and planned maintenance activities of select operating standalone battery assets. You may also assist solar technicians with repairing, troubleshooting, and completing technical repair work orders for solar panels as needed.
DailyResponsibilities
- Complete permits to work, job safety plans (JSPs), lock‑out tag‑out (LOTO) procedures.
- Perform last‑minute risk assessments.
- Execute preventative maintenance tasks on site‑specific equipment during monthly, semi‑annual, and annual maintenance cycles.
- Demonstrate reactive maintenance skills, such as basic troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis, to reestablish faulted units.
- Interpret ENGIE’s official documentation, work instructions, routine maintenance checklists, and create and follow up on work orders and observations in Maximo.
- Conduct site orientations to OEM representatives, independent service providers, vendors, and site visitors, and accompany them to units to perform LOTO and general supervision when needed, ensuring adherence to ENGIE’s quality and safety standards.
- Participate in a Qualified Electrical Worker Competency Skills test, demonstrating knowledge of AC/DC voltage readings, hot‑cold‑hot tests, using CAT IV PPE, a shotgun stick for cluster grounding, a non‑contact voltage detector, and a voltage detector tester.
- Minimum High School Diploma/GED or equivalent electrical program diploma with knowledge of AC/DC voltage, general electrical theory, basic one‑line and three‑line schematics, and operation & maintenance of electrical equipment such as AC/DC breakers, disconnects, MV transformers, NO/NC contractors, and relays.
- 1–3 years of experience in any BESS, solar, wind, thermal, manufacturing, mining operations, or controls & instrumentation maintenance.
- Knowledge of basic hand and power tools (screwdrivers, crescent wrenches, pliers, ratchet wrenches, torque wrenches, sockets, drills, impacts).
- Proficiency in using and maintaining SCADA systems.
- Capacity to be on call as required by supervisor.
- Field position requiring daily travel to client site(s).
- Must be available to travel domestically to support other ENGIE Renewable Generation sites.
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record to operate company vehicle.
- Must comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies.
- The position consists of 30% work indoors and 70% work outdoors; outdoor work may expose employee to weather conditions.
Hourly Range: $32.45 – 35.58 USD. This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate. In addition to base pay, the position is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan and emergency or on‑call pay.
