What You Can ExpectAs the Solar Technician II, your daily responsibilities begin with accessing tasks via SCADA, Maximo, or various SAP software systems upon arrival at the Five Wells solar plant in Rogers, TX. Your duties encompass repairing, troubleshooting, and fulfilling technical repair work orders for solar panels. You will manage documentation, update parts inventory, and submit on‑site status reports, including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, and initiate work orders for equipment repairs.
You will be required to adhere to safety protocols such as conducting Site‑Specific Orientations, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and safety meetings. You will also be part of an on‑call rotation for outages and emergencies; therefore, you must reside within 50 miles of the site.
- Perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance and operations within qualified skill areas, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Coordinate high voltage switching activities with local utilities and independent system operators (ISO), which includes tasks like substation operations, equipment lockouts, and grounding.
- Work independently or as part of a crew to complete assigned tasks across solar power plant systems.
- Utilize SCADA systems and other digital tools for monitoring and diagnostics, along with test equipment such as meggers and IV curve testers.
- Travel to various sites as required to support maintenance and operational needs.
- Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in solar generation sites, wind generation sites, manufacturing or mining operations, or controls & industrial maintenance.
- Must have or be willing to obtain certification by AVO as substation technician within 12 months of hire date.
- Ability to work long hours, often outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable standing, kneeling, or crouching for extended periods.
- Capacity to be on call as deemed necessary by supervisor.
- This is a field position requiring regular travel to client site(s).
- This role requires daily attendance at a worksite.
- Must be available to travel domestically to other solar plants for emergencies and assist with outages.
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license/clean driving record to drive company vehicle on and around the plant.
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies.
- The position consists of 20% work indoors and 80% work outdoors; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions.
- Could involve some lifting / up to 50 lbs.
Hourly Range: $34.00 - $38.67 USD hourly
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan and emergency or on‑call pay.
