Job Description
ENGIE North America is hiring a Solar Technician for our Ray Ranch Solar Site located in Goliad, TX.
Your daily responsibilities begin with accessing tasks via SCADA, Maximo, or various SAP software systems and repairing, troubleshooting, and fulfilling technical repair work orders for solar panels. You will manage documentation, update parts inventory, and submit on-site status reports, including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, and initiate work orders for equipment repairs.
Responsibilities- Coordination of high voltage switching activities with local utilities and independent system operators (ISO), which includes tasks like substation operations, equipment lockouts and grounding.
- Adhere to safety protocols such as conducting Site-Specific Orientations, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and safety meetings.
- Work independently on-site, with nearby technicians for safety support; the site's team comprises a site manager, a Balance of Plant technician, and the solar technician.
- Be part of an on-call rotation for outages and emergencies; must reside within 50 miles of the site.
- Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
- Training or technical program that includes AC/DC current, electrical theory, reading blueprints and schematics, industrial electrical equipment including breakers, disconnects, transformers, contractors.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in Solar generation sites, Wind generation sites, Manufacturing or Mining operations, or Controls & Industrial Maintenance.
- Willingness to obtain certification by AVO as substation technician within 12 months of hire date.
- Capacity to be on call as needed.
- This is a field position requiring daily travel to client site(s).
- Must be available to travel domestically to other solar plants for emergencies and assist with outages.
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must comply with ENGIE's COVID vaccination and testing policy.
- Must comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies.
- The position consists of 30% work indoors and 70% work outdoors; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions.
Salary Range: $32.40 - $43.18 USD annually. This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan and emergency or on-call pay.
