Job Description — Dual Credit History Teacher (Grades 9-12) HS History (World Geography, World History)
Primary Purpose
Provide students with rigorous, engaging instruction in high school history courses and dual credit history classes aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and partnering college expectations. The teacher will support college readiness, CCMR attainment, and dual credit success while maintaining high instructional standards and strong student relationships consistent with the mission of Baird ISD
.
Education/Certification
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (required)
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in Social Studies/History (Grades 7-12)
- Master’s degree in History or related field OR minimum graduate hours required to teach dual credit through partnering college (preferred/required depending on college requirements)
- Eligibility for adjunct faculty status with partnering college (Cisco College)
Experience
- Secondary history teaching experience preferred
- Experience with dual credit, Advanced Placement, or college-level coursework preferred
- Familiarity with rural school environments and small-school collaboration (preferred)
Instructional Responsibilities
- Deliver TEKS-aligned instruction in high school history courses (ex: US History, World History, Government, Economics)
- Teach dual credit history courses in accordance with partnering college syllabus, rigor, and assessment expectations
- Implement research-based instructional strategies that promote critical thinking, historical analysis, and writing skills
- Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instruction and monitor student progress
- Prepare students for college expectations, TSIA readiness, and CCMR indicators
- Coordinate with partnering college faculty and administrators to ensure course alignment and compliance
- Maintain accurate dual credit documentation, grading, and communication with college systems
- Support student success through tutoring, monitoring progress, and parent communication
- Assist with dual credit recruitment, advising collaboration, and program growth initiatives
- Establish and maintain a structured, student-centered classroom environment conducive to learning
- Promote academic integrity and college-level expectations in dual credit coursework
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Participate in campus and district professional development
- Collaborate with social studies department and campus leadership
- Support campus initiatives aligned to CCMR improvement and accountability goals
- Maintain compliance with district, state, and college policies
- Assist with UIL academic activities, student organizations, or extracurricular assignments as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by the campus principal
- Strong knowledge of Texas history TEKS and college-level history standards
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to integrate technology and digital learning tools
- Commitment to rural school community engagement and student success
- Classroom environment with occasional extracurricular assignments
- May require evening dual credit meetings or college coordination activities
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the T-TESS appraisal system and district policies.
SalarySalary commensurate with experience and district salary schedule, with potential stipend for dual credit responsibilities.
