Job Description

The Instructor is responsible for the success of the total teaching/learning process within the assigned classroom, laboratory, shop, or other learning environment. The Instructor has the primary responsibility in academic matters for the content, quality, and effectiveness of the curriculum and further has the opportunity to participate in institutional governance and influence institutional policy and practice through the role of Instructor and regular committee assignments.

The Instructor is supervised by the Program Coordinator, the Division Director, and the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Additional Information Related to Position

The Instructor could be responsible for classes taught on multiple Clarendon College campuses, which include Clarendon, Pampa, Childress, online, dual credit, through Zoom, and in Texas Department of Criminal Justice units.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform and carry out the teaching assignment in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate office hours.
  • Remain current in the teaching discipline through professional development activities: maintain familiarity with recent publications and journals in the teaching discipline; and participate in local, state, or national professional societies and meetings where appropriate.
  • Participate in program area, division, and college faculty meetings; provide input on textbook adoption, program planning and evaluation, budgets, and the selection of supplies and equipment.
  • Complete annual core and program curriculum assessment for each section of each course taught and submit appropriate files and documentation to the Program Coordinator.
  • Assist in advising and registration, as assigned.
  • Work individually and collaboratively with others to recruit new students and work to retain current students.
  • Support college activities and special events through attendance and participation, including advising of campus club(s), team, and/or other activities.
  • Use the funds of the institution allocated to the budget of the department or to a special project in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Work on institutional standing and ad hoc committees, as assigned.
  • Comply with all College policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Academic Affairs and/or the President.
