Job SummaryTwo courses, ECE 130 Preschool Education with Field Experiences and ECE 140 Infant and Toddler Education with Field Experiences use a coaching model. The focus of the model is to increase the skill level of the students in their teaching of children. The coaches will focus on specific skill building, and utilize one-on‑one observations in person, through the use of technology recording teaching then reflect with students and provide coaching to small groups.
Coaches will meet with course instructors to coordinate skills to focus on with the students and with the early childhood program classroom mentor teachers.
Responsible for coaching college students in their infant and toddler or preschool classroom field experience placements, working with mentor teachers and course faculty. Coaching will take place on campus at the NAEYC Accredited Children’s Center and in the community at Early Head Start locations. Coaching entails observing, recording, and providing specific feedback with goals and strategies to improve the teaching of college students in the early childhood program.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Direct work experience with children birth to three years old in a licensed early childhood program and/or with preschool children in a licensed early childhood program.
- Current Central Registry Clearance from Michigan Department of Human Services and Michigan i‑CHAT.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Direct work experience (current within the last five years), with children birth to three years old in a licensed early childhood program and/or with preschool children in a licensed early childhood program.
- Adult teaching or training experience.
- Supervisory experience of early childhood educators.

Salary$25/hour
Work HoursWork Hours Varied based upon the number of students being coached. Range of hours will fall between Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
