Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the teacher facilitates student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing district-approved curriculum, documenting student progress, addressing individual educational needs, creating a flexible safe learning environment, and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding progress and goals.
Responsibilities- Develop and administer school elementary curriculum consistent with district goals.
- Promote a safe classroom environment conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate them into effective learning experiences.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, modifying instruction to meet individual needs, including students with special needs.
- Instruct students in responsible citizenship and other subject matters required by law.
- Continuously acquire professional knowledge through seminars, workshops, or research.
- Maintain accurate record‑keeping, grading and reporting for all student activities per district procedures and laws.
- Encourage parental involvement and maintain effective communication.
- Ensure student conduct aligns with school standards and policies.
- Coordinate with grade‑level staff to evaluate curriculum and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
- Select and requisition instructional materials, maintaining inventory records.
- Supervise students during out‑of‑classroom activities, including transportation.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods, pedagogy and differentiation.
- Knowledge of elementary curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of data systems and analysis to create action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications.
- Organization and coordination skills.
- Effective communication with students and parents.
- Self‑evaluation for professional growth.
- Ability to establish cooperative relationships with colleagues.
- Certification/License: State Elementary Teacher Certification; state certification for appropriate grade level preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related discipline;
Master’s degree preferred. - Experience: Successful prior teaching experience for appropriate grade levels is a plus.
