We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The RoleGilmore College supports students with many different learning and support needs. Our staff work with students across all year levels and programs. We are looking for applicants who have experience helping students with learning difficulties, specific learning disorders, and disabilities in a secondary school setting. The ideal candidate will be flexible, friendly, and have strong interpersonal skills.
As a Level 3 Education Assistant – Special Needs, you will support the delivery of planned educational programs, working under teacher direction to provide assistance to individual students and small groups. You will contribute to a collaborative and inclusive classroom environment, supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
Experience working with students who present with learning and behavioural challenges, mental health and medical needs, or limited English literacy (EALD) is highly desirable. Training and experience in implementing Direct Instruction programs will also be well regarded.
Suitable applicants will ideally be :- Caring, proactive, and responsive to student needs
- Effective team players, with strong collaboration skills
- Skilled in written and oral communication to support the delivery of individual and group programs
- Committed to building positive relationships with students, staff, families, and the wider community
- Dedicated to supporting the implementation of the school’s Business Plan and priorities through agreed programs and strategies
