Research Specialist - II - NRCS

Location: Prairie View

* Design and develop field experiments under the guidance of the project lead.
* Conduct field experiments and maintain research testbed on PVAMU research farm.
* Install and maintain field equipment and sensors.
* Collect, analyze, and store in situ measurements.
* Develop and perform assessments to identify problematic data, including gap filling, formulate and apply corrections.
* Identify and collect data available in the public domain for this project.
* Prepare datasets to share with other investigators or collaborators.
* Supervise and help undergraduate and graduate students.
* Assist faculty with field demonstrations for students and/or stakeholders, including farmers.
* Participates in extension and outreach activities as needed by the program; and performs other duties as necessary.
* Bachelor's Degree
* Six years of related experience in earth science, hydrology, soil science, geography, eco-hydrology, civil engineering, geosciences, agricultural engineering, or any other relevant academic field emphasizing remote sensing, carbon dynamics, climate change eco-hydrology.
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
* Strong quantitative and programming experiences in R, Python, and others.
* Considerable experience in spatial data analysis, laboratory analytical techniques, field research design, and project implementations at different scales (field and watershed).
* Strong numerical modeling and analytical and statistical skills.
* Strong interest in working with multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to effectively communicate with faculty, educators, and staff.
* Ability to organize tasks and prioritize work with minimal supervision.
* Knowledge of statistical analysis and Geographical Information System (GIS) software.
* Knowledge and understanding of Remote Sensing Tools and data.
* Knowledge and understanding of the mission and role of the Land Grant University System.
