Job Summary
The Long-Term Substitute Teacher assumes the responsibilities of a regular classroom teacher for an extended period of time. This role involves planning, instructing, assessing student progress, and maintaining a positive learning environment in alignment with school and district standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver instruction according to established lesson plans and curriculum standards
Develop and adapt lesson plans as needed to meet student learning needs
Maintain a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
Assess student performance and provide timely feedback
Implement classroom management strategies consistent with school policies
Collaborate with grade-level teams, department members, and support staff
Communicate effectively with administrators, staff, parents, and guardians as appropriate
Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student records
Follow all district policies, procedures, and safety protocols
Participate in meetings, professional development, and school activities as required
Prior classroom teaching or long-term substitute experience preferred
Strong classroom management and instructional skills
Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Ability to adapt instruction to diverse learning needs
Full-time, temporary assignment for the duration of the teacher’s absence
Assignment length may vary (typically several weeks to a full school year)
Compensation based on district substitute or long-term substitute pay scale
Benefits eligibility may vary based on assignment length and district policy
