Overview
We are looking for an experienced Insurance Coordinator to join our team. The Insurance Coordinator verifies patient insurance eligibility and benefits with insurance carriers, enters patient benefits and updated coverage into the Open Dental Software, and provides support to both patients and the practices to ensure best practices and patient care.
Responsibilities- Review the schedule for all appointments and add-on appointments.
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits by using online portals and/or calling the insurance directly.
- Add new plans and update existing plans in the Open Dental software.
- Phase treatment to honor allowed services for appointments.
- Work closely with the dental front office to clearly explain dental benefits and patient responsibility.
- Maintain regular attendance and adhere to assigned work schedule and office policies.
- Maintain communication with offices and other Patient Services departments via chat, email, and phone.
- Always represent the practice and company in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.
- Knowledge of Medicaid guidelines and regulations regarding limitations and benefits.
- Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in team settings.
- Occasionally travel by car or plane to participate in continuing education or seminars.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned periodically.
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
- Standing 5%;
Sitting 95%. - Moderate noise levels from surrounding team members.
- Business office setting.
- Minimum moving requirements of 25 pounds to transfer supplies in the office after delivery.
- Constant patient and interoffice personnel interaction due to the customer-facing nature of the role.
- Exceptional hand dexterity and typing skills to work with standard software programs.
- Hearing – able to hear telephonic equipment and communicate with patients and others by telephone and in person.
- Near vision – ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the computer screen daily).
- Physically able to climb up and down two flights of stairs multiple times a day as needed.
- Insurance verification: 1 year (Preferred).
- Day Shift (Required).
