POSITION SUMMARYFortune‑Johnson General Contractors is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to join our team. The ideal candidate is a construction professional who has experience building projects in excess of $40M (experience in multifamily preferred). The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for leading field operations at the jobsite, specific to their assigned trades; including adherence to the schedule, quality, cost and safety.
PrimaryJob Responsibilities
- Partner with Project Superintendent to ensure project success.
- Review project plans, requirements, submittals and specifications.
- Understand flow of work & scheduling, assist in schedule, sequencing, logistics and safety plan.
- Long‑Term Planning/Preparation/Logistics: identify long lead time production items, communicate with team members, consider production/delivery time.
- Understand and manage inspection process.
- Subcontractor and Labor Management: communicate with subcontractors, set expectations, monitor progress and quality.
- Complete daily reports, punch lists, QA sheets, safety audits and observations, etc.
- Ensure material and equipment are delivered to the jobsite in a timely manner.
- Manage project budget by holding subcontractors accountable for work performed.
- Ensure that work progresses according to schedule.
- Enforce and maintain a safe and clean jobsite.
- 2‑5 years of construction experience.
- Must be proactive and work with a sense of urgency.
- Establish a spirit of partnering with subcontractors while demanding that they perform in a manner that contributes to the project’s success.
- Demonstrate solid communication skills.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge using a personal computer and company communication tools, such as email, internet, Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office) and Procore project management software.
- Ability to build relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors and municipalities that lead to positive outcomes.
- Excellent leader and company team player.
- Ability to effectively coordinate, organize, plan, and manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results.
- Ability to maintain focus while working in a high‑level, fast‑paced environment.
