Assistant Resident Camp Director (Overnight) furthers the mission of Girl Scouts Texas Oklahoma Plains (GSTOP) through Stevens Ranch Resident Camp programming. The Resident Camp Assistant Director will assist in planning, directing, and supervising all camp programs, staff, and budgets, and in the event of the absence of the Camp Director, will assume the role of the Camp Director.

Responsibilities
  • Must reside at Camp Sunday – Friday during summer.
  • Assists in the administration and direction of all summer camp programming led by the Camp Director.
  • Creates and manages Camp Programming with the direction of GSTOP Council and Camp Director.
  • Communicates with the Camp Director on everything camp regularly and daily.
  • Assists the Camp Director with camp staff training.
  • Assists the Camp Director with management of camp financial expenses, keeps receipts, manages camp credit card, all purchases for camp, keeping all purchases in alignment with approved budget.
  • Assists with check‑in and check‑out, welcomes families, troubleshoots, and ensures all staff are accounted for, and units are prepared accordingly.
  • Stays vigilant with all American Camper Association (ACA) guidelines and continually monitors programming to ensure standards are kept.
  • Assists with monitoring of safety and all procedures as they pertain to the complete supervision of all staff and campers.
  • Conducts weekly staff meetings.
  • Conducts daily meetings with Camp Directors to get and give updates on camp programming, staff, and campers.
  • Assists in any inspections by ACA and the State of Texas.
  • Stays vigilant with weather updates and safety procedures; communicates with the Camp Director.
  • Learns evacuation procedures; trains staff and campers on weather safety and evacuation procedures.
  • Communicates with the Camp Director on any staff or camper incidents.
  • Ensures all staff follow through with their job descriptions and assists with assigning staff activities and other responsibilities.
  • Manages the monitoring of safety and all procedures as they pertain to the complete supervision of all staff and campers.
  • Helps provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and well‑being among staff and promotes team collaboration.
  • Runs weekly reports of camp attendees and as needed for camp operations.
  • Prints and delivers Bunk Notes to camps during each meal.
  • Assists Camp Director with overnight issues campers may have.
  • Fulfils any jobs that may need support to run camp successfully.
  • Has a designated relationship with the Site Managers for the efficient operation of all business and programmatic activities.
  • Must be able to drive a camp vehicle and be physically able to respond to emergency situations.
  • Maintains effective and positive public relations with parents, vendors, and community members.
  • Maintains awareness of camper and staff behavior, evaluates and responds to situations appropriately, and ensures adherence to safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.
  • Evaluates the current season and makes suggestions for the following season.
  • Assists with the opening and closing of camp, returns supplies and vehicles to the corporate office.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 25 years of age.
  • Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting.
  • Willingness to collaborate with all people without regard to race, religion, ethnic origin, socio‑economic status, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
  • Experience and/or education in general Outdoor Education or Girl Scouts.
  • Ability to coordinate on‑site business activities.
  • Desire and ability to work with children and adults in a camp community.
