- Shift Supervisor duties include ensuring the expected service delivery of residential services for all children in care.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily operations and direct care staff of the designated shift to ensure safety, well-being, and delivery of residential services.
- Create a safe environment conducive to learning and behavioral management.
- Leadership and Supervision: oversee and coordinate youth care workers on the shift; assign duties; delegate responsibilities; monitor performance; update staff schedules to meet ratios and manage overtime.
- Direct supervision of youth care workers and children in care; plan and coordinate special events, acculturation activities, holiday celebrations, outings, leisure and large muscle group activities; ensure implementation of programs.
- Maintain a safe, clean, hazard-free facility/home; assist with household chores as needed.
- Ensure documentation is completed according to policy and adheres to VQ, ORR and Licensing reporting standards.
- Assist in evacuation of children as needed; organize, facilitate and attend team meetings; ensure staff attendance.
- Collaborate with other management team members for effective communication and coordination; attend departmental and program meetings for updates and policy changes.
- Drive continued growth as a leader; lead by example with self-awareness and skill development; build a positive culture that supports growth, teamwork and trauma-informed care.
- Motivate, supervise, and develop the team to support service integration and program improvement initiatives; supervise, guide, and mentor program staff toward delivering high-quality services, including recruitment and training; ensure ongoing training to meet state and federal mandates.
- Develop corrective action plans or disciplinary memos to address performance issues in collaboration with the Program Director and Assistant Program Director.
- Review ORR placement requests; complete intake and program orientation for new arrivals.
- Assign and complete bed movements; ensure all children receive needed accommodations; ensure compliance with licensing regulations.
- Assist with OTC and prescribed medication; document the child’s progress, behavior, and health while in care.
- Conduct intake and property inventory upon the child’s arrival; provide essential needs such as meals, clothing, hygiene products, shower, and bedroom assignments.
- Develop positive rapport with youth and serve as a role model; interact with children during activities and recreational time.
- Teach, coach, and supervise children in activities of daily living; assist with children’s medical, dental appointments, and reunifications.
- Ensure child rights are upheld and residents are aware of the grievance procedure; responsible for distribution and documentation of medications to youth.
- Strong management, organizational and leadership skills.

- Ability to work independently and as a team member; culturally sensitive and understanding of all children served.
