Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Maintenance Assistant is a student staff member of the Office of Residential Living who assumes major responsibilities in both the Residential Living facilities and at assigned moments, in the office. As part of their job, MAs serve as a representative for the Office of Residential Living which includes: being knowledgeable of basic Residential Living policies (or understanding of how to locate them), using tools for repairs etc.
in a responsible manner, presenting professionally in terms of attire, communication, and interpersonal skills when dealing with University faculty, staff, students, and prospective students along with their families.
- Accompanying Physical Plant or Custodial to unlock or be present for work orders
- Completing minor work orders with Residential Living’s tools on an as needed basis with student maintenance staff or accompanying Resident or Office Assistant
- Conducting inventory of Residential Living property on a routine basis or as needed
- Moving furniture and other items to assigned rooms or designated storage location
- Answering and placing phone calls to students (current and prospective) and University faculty/staff and vendors
- Scanning, filing, and shredding documents as directed by the Director of Residential Living, Assistant Directors, and Housing Administrative Assistant
- Referring current and prospective students to appropriate resources
- Completing all other duties as assigned by Residential Living administrative staff members
