Summary:
The Building Systems & Energy Manager oversees the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of all mechanical, control, energy, and automation systems. This role leads the coordination of internal teams and external partners, manages preventive and corrective maintenance programs, and optimizes energy and utility consumption through data-driven strategies.

- High School Diploma
- 5+ years of experience in a similar or related facilities operations role
- Associate degree or higher from an accredited institution
- 10+ years of related experience in facilities operations or mechanical systems management.
- Certification in one or more relevant mechanical or control systems
- Mechanical, Building Automation, and Controls systems
- Preventive & Corrective Maintenance strategies and best practices
- Building inspections and regulatory compliance
- Utilities and Energy Management systems and best practices
- Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) work order systems
- Bidding and procurement processes
- Construction management principles
- Construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and documents
- Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents
- Leading teams, managing complex projects, and optimizing energy and maintenance strategies
- Effective communication and interpersonal relations
- Customer service and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
- Conducting inspections and audits
- Intermediate to advanced technology proficiency, including building automation systems and maintenance management tools.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintenance Management:
Lead planning and execution of preventive and corrective maintenance programs for critical systems, including central plant chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, VRF systems, building automation controls, CRAC units, and MDF/IDF A/C equipment. Ensure timely diagnostics, repairs, and system improvements to maintain operational reliability. - Building Automation & Controls:
Administer HVAC and lighting automation systems; optimize operation schedules and set points based on occupancy and usage patterns; monitor building conditions and respond promptly to special event requirements and system issues. - Energy & Utilities Oversight:
Develop and manage annual utilities budgets; monitor and analyze energy consumption and costs; oversee energy contracts and maintain accurate energy management databases; deliver reports on usage trends and indoor environmental conditions to support sustainability goals. - Reporting and Compliance:
Prepare and submit State-required annual energy consumption and utilities reports. - Project Management:
Plan and execute small to mid‑sized capital and deferred maintenance projects related to assigned systems, ensuring timely delivery, cost control, and compliance with standards. - Financial & Procurement Support:
Assist with budget development and forecasting; drive purchasing efficiency through standardization and strategic vendor and contract management. - Team Development & Leadership:
