Shell Recharge Solutions is seeking a Senior Software Architect to join our engineering team in leading and owning the software design for a distributed multi-technology platform. This software is central to an eMobility ecosystem that includes a massive worldwide cloud infrastructure, Electric Vehicle Chargers (L2 and DCFC), Battery Energy Storage systems, integration with Energy Utilities, Renewable Energy, and the hardware/software to facilitate administration, predictive management, and communication between sites and facilities.
Responsibilities- You will help raise the technical bar across the worldwide organization, drive a data and results-driven culture, and help nurture a high-performance, world-class Product and Technology team.
- You will work cross-functionally across all Shell Group companies to design and architect a next-generation worldwide eMobility technology platform.
- Provide technical leadership for the architecture and design of secure, distributed, scalable, and resilient components, frameworks, and microservices.
- Conduct component and system-level design reviews.
- Mentor and grow the design acumen for a team of globally distributed, talented, diverse software engineers.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience required.
- 15+ years of experience designing and shipping cloud services products.
- 15+ years of experience driving and managing technical and architectural dependencies.
- 10+ years of experience with distributed systems delivering large-scale, secure, and resilient cloud services.
- A firm understanding of system architecture, cloud computing, PaaS/SaaS design principles, microservices, and containers. AWS, Docker, Kubernetes experience strongly preferred.
- Proven system level design contribution to a current “Live” (in production / under daily high load) multi-region SaaS or PaaS offering.
- Experience with at least one Big Data analytic technology (Hadoop, Kafka, Spark, SQL, or equivalent).
- Interface design with proficiency in object-oriented programming languages and frameworks.
- Passion for and ability to quickly understand emerging technologies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with Dev Ops/SRE models and a scrum/agile methodology.
- Mastery of software requirements, architecture, and documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to solve problems and think outside of the box.
- Apply proven software design patterns to ensure maintainability, scalability, and performance.
- Solve complex technical challenges with a strong focus on analytical thinking, root cause analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 15+ years in cloud services architecture and delivery.
- 10+ years in distributed systems and cloud-native technologies.
