Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Education, Communications, Media Production, or a closely related field and one (1) year of instructional design, educational technology, online course development, or faculty support experience.
Preferred Education/Training/Experience
Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or closely related field.
Minimum Knowledge & Skills
* Working knowledge of instructional design principles applicable to online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced learning environments.
* Basic knowledge of visual and multimedia design principles for digital content.
* Experience developing, organizing, and delivering instructional materials within a browser-based or Learning Management System environment.
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities across instructional technologies.
* Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support faculty, students, and staff.
* Proficiency in Microsoft 365 or comparable productivity platforms.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Technical knowledge and experience working across multiple operating systems and common educational technologies.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
* Experience with Learning Management Systems, particularly Desire2
Learn (D2L) Brightspace.
* Experience designing and developing interactive, technology-based instructional materials for online or hybrid learning.
* Familiarity with accessibility standards (ADA/WCAG) and inclusive course design practices.
* Experience supporting media production, podcasting, video development, or live streaming for instructional purposes.
* Experience facilitating faculty development or instructional technology training sessions.
Licensing/Certification Requirements
None required. Relevant instructional technology, quality assurance, or audiovisual certifications may be considered.
Job Duties
* Provide instructional design and technology support to faculty in the development, enhancement, and maintenance of online and hybrid courses, including the use of standardized course templates and engagement-focused design strategies.
* Collaborate with faculty to apply instructional design principles, scaffolding techniques, and student-centered practices that improve clarity, organization, and learner engagement in distance education courses.
* Partner with Media Services staff to support the development of instructional media, including video, audio, streaming, and other digital learning assets that enhance course delivery.
* Support quality assurance efforts by assisting with course reviews to ensure alignment with institutional standards, accessibility guidelines (ADA/WCAG), and published Distance Education course criteria.
* Troubleshoot and resolve faculty and student issues within the Learning Management System (LMS) and related instructional technologies. Maintain access to course tools, tutorials, and support resources.
* Develop and facilitate instructional technology workshops, onboarding sessions, and training opportunities for faculty teaching in online and hybrid modalities.
* Contribute to the support and maintenance of the EdTech Support Center, including first-tier response for students and faculty.
* Assist in researching and evaluating emerging instructional technologies and best practices in distance education.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Time Off / Holidays
The College of the Mainland observes approximately 35 scheduled college-closed days during the academic year, including Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Winter Break, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Spring Break, Spring Holiday, and Memorial Day. Holiday schedules are approved annually and subject to change.
