Class Summary

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, the primary responsibilities of the Dean of Student Success include: the development of innovative strategies and high impact practices to increase student success outcomes; overall supervision of academic advising programs and activities, specialized support programs such as Veteran Success, TRIO Student Support Services, Testing and Career Services; provide leadership on the development of initiatives to enhance students’ experience along their academic journey;

work with campus leaders in the development and support of Guided Pathways; support the College CARE team function; analyze data and generate reports that can be utilized in decision making for College; and engage in project management for special projects, programs or services.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in business, education, counseling, higher education administration or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in advising, student retention programs, career services, enrollment, accessibility services, or similar areas in higher education
Preferred Education/Training/Experience
  • Experience designing and implementing effective programs, services, and systems that assist and/or support a large and diverse student population.
  • Project management and program oversight
  • Data analysis and reporting
  • Community college experience
  • Oral proficiency in Spanish
  • Doctorate degree
Experience & Skills
  • Ability to handle multiple work priorities, organize, and plan projects effectively.
  • Experience managing confidential and sensitive information and situations with diplomacy and demonstration of excellent critical thinking and sound judgement.
  • Successful experience building collaborative partnerships.
  • Experience collaborating with a wide variety of campus and external constituencies.
  • General knowledge of college programs, requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as to function effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to drive initiatives from ideation to execution.
  • Experience in successfully planning, executing, and evaluating programs and initiatives.
  • Experience managing, planning, administering, and monitoring multiple budgets or grants.
  • Strong leadership ability and proven skills in conflict resolution, mediation, interpersonal communication, and decision-making.

Job Duties
  • Identify and develop innovative and high impact practices to increase student success outcomes.
  • Conduct or direct special projects as assigned; and acts in other matters and capacities as delegated by the Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
  • Serve on the College’s CARE Team.
  • Provide supervision and coordinate with program directors to enhance the student experience by facilitating the development and implementation of student success and advisement strategies to enhance learning, engagement, retention, completion and career attainment.
  • Remain current and trained on standard and best practices, emerging strategies and interventions, and research at the local, state, and federal levels, supporting the reduction of threats to the campus community and connecting students of concern to the supports necessary to enable their retention and success.
  • Provide leadership in the Guided Pathways work by collaborating with campus leaders and partnering with Academic Affairs.
  • Extract data using College software and databases, responding to data-related queries, setting up processes to make data more efficient, analyzing, and interpreting trends from the data, and reporting trends to add business value.
  • Coordinate special projects and communication on behalf of the Vice President for Student Affairs, frequently involving faculty and/or senior officers of the College; interact with other colleges, industry, government and community…
