The Collaborative Pianist provides accompaniment for select choirs, student performances, private lesson instruction, and departmental events. This part‑time position requires strong sight‑reading and rehearsal skills, flexibility across musical styles, and a commitment to supporting both faculty and student musicians. The pianist will rehearse and perform regularly with ensembles and soloists, contribute to juries and recitals, and maintain a professional, collegial presence within the music program.
Hours vary by semester, aligning with the rehearsal and performance calendar.
- Available to rehearse and perform with choirs, soloists, and ensembles, and also play for juries, recitals, and auditions.
- May assist with private lessons and student performances, ensuring reliable preparation and flexibility with varied repertoire.
- Has a strong sight‑reading ability, stylistic versatility (classical, musical theatre, etc.), and collaborative sensitivity.
- Is punctual, reliable, and able to work collegially with faculty, staff, and students.
- This is a part‑time role with variable hours depending on the performance and rehearsal calendar.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Demonstrated piano proficiency with excellent sight‑reading skills.
- Experience in collaborating and performing with individuals and groups in a wide variety of musical styles and genres.
- Master’s degree.
- Advanced musical and pianistic skills with 5 or more years of collaborative piano experience.
- Skill in creating a supportive learning environment that encourages student success.
- Skill in collaborating with various instruments and groups.
- Ability to work with a variety of campus constituents, with a sensitivity for diversity.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities & responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to clearly, effectively, and professionally communicate with faculty, students, and other support staff to successfully collaborate.
- Ability to collaborate and perform with individuals and groups in a wide variety of musical styles and genres.
- Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing, and reaching, flexibility, and body movement for bending, crouching, walking, and kneeling.
- Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 15 lbs.
