** JOB OVERVIEW
** The Construction Specialist position will be part of a project team supporting the completion of a major project in Texas City, TX, including natural gas fractionators, refrigeration, tanks, LPG terminal & dock, and associated pipelines.
The Construction Specialist will work closely with project management, project engineers, construction management, project controls, and contract resources to coordinate construction activities to schedule and budget. This position reports to the Construction Management Director and will be based near MPC’s Galveston Bay Refinery in Texas City, TX.
** RESPONSIBILITIES*
* • Manages a portfolio of projects of varying magnitude and complexity from conception to start-up following the Marathon Project Management Process (MPMP).
• Develops and maintains working knowledge of applicable industry and company component-specific technical and construction standards as well as operating practices and regulatory requirements and apply it to project design and execution.
• Collaborates with other departments, subject matter experts, technicians, and vendors to obtain pertinent information to complete the planning, design, and execution of proposed projects as well as working closely with internal and external stakeholders to obtain construction permits and easements when necessary.
• Manages project performance to ensure project meets agreed quality, cost and schedule parameters in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
• Collaborates with Project Controls Specialist on project administration (scheduling, estimating, cost management, etc.).
• Coordinates with Supply Chain in the development of a contracting plan; prepares bid requests and evaluates bids based on sound construction, technical design, and business principles.
• Keeps accurate project documentation to ensure all documentation necessary for applicable regulatory and internal compliance is maintained and managed.
• With requirements discussed and outlined and with limited guidance and suggestions offered, carries out responsibilities and interactions of a significant or complex nature. Recommends possible company action involving the assigned area of work. Provides guidance to less experienced professional or specialist personnel and other personnel as situations require.
** MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Education:
high school diploma/GED required, bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field preferred.
Technical experience: three (3) years of project/construction planning, administration, and execution or related experience required.
Travel: 10% - 15%
Certifications:
must possess or be able to obtain a TWIC. Licenses: valid driver’s license required.
