Summary:
The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” The AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership.
The AIT and Assistant Manager will share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager position is a progression from the AIT position and includes additional high level duties specific to that position, though the majority of job duties and responsibilities are shared.

Responsibilities- Sales Generation and Guest Service:
Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service; answer questions; locate and recommend merchandise based on Guest needs; anticipate needs and create a wardrobe experience; demonstrate product knowledge and share with Team; stay informed on sales, promotions, policies, exchanges, and security practices; aim for personal sales goals and contribute to the store’s overall sales performance; provide service across Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and the register area;
understand exchange/return procedures; utilize the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG); meet or exceed Buckle business builders and guest loyalty goals; develop guest relationships and lead by example; communicate Guest levels with the Team; coach Teammates on showmanship and product education; maintain leadership standards whether the Manager is present; partner with Store Manager to set sales goals and own store’s sales performance. - Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development:
Recognize recruiting opportunities; coach and develop new Teammates to meet Buckle’s standards; maintain a positive floor culture; demonstrate appropriate dress, participate in training and performance tracking; motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks; develop denim showmanship and fit strategies; collaborate with the Store Manager on education focus and leadership development; train non-sales positions; identify and address training needs. - Visual Merchandise Management:
Own and influence product through zone ownership; execute new tools and videos; review all zones with the Store Manager; ensure Visual Standards and weekly checklists are followed; identify merchandising opportunities from freight to floor; conduct store tours; maintain appropriate display and lifecycle of product; implement visual improvements via the Performance Tracker. - Operations:
Maintain a flexible schedule; complete Opening/Closing Checklists; monitor security and Loss Prevention; execute POS procedures; handle corporate communications; maintain a positive attitude with Guests and Teammates; apply policies on payments, returns, exchanges and LP practices; navigate store tools; train non-sales positions; complete shifts and maintain a clean, shoppable store; report merchandise handling concerns; communicate policy violations to leadership; adhere to Buckle Code of Ethics and policies;
complete new hire paperwork promptly; manage planning and markdowns; coordinate with Corporate and other departments; monitor inventory of supplies; handle emergencies in the Store Manager’s absence as per guidelines. - Supervisory and Leadership:
