District Support Pharmacist – Full Time
CVS Health is seeking a District Support Pharmacist (DSP) to support a district of retail pharmacy locations. The DSP will fill pharmacist scheduling gaps, serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts, and help maintain safe, accurate pharmacy operations.
Job Purpose And SummaryAs a DSP, you will model CVS Health values, provide compassionate care to patients, and support pharmacy teams through safe dispensing, inventory management, and clinical services. You will work within the district to support staff scheduling and ensure continuous, compliant pharmacy operations.
Responsibilities- Manage and improve patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
- Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts and serve as Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts.
- Direct pharmacy workflow, ensure safety guardrails, and oversee prescription fulfillment.
- Support the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when acting as the only or primary pharmacist on duty.
- Deliver compassionate patient experiences and coach the pharmacy team to do the same.
- Administer immunizations and support technicians in learning immunization protocols.
- Manage inventory best practices, focusing on cold‑chain products.
- Maintain clinical and technical skills through required trainings and CME opportunities.
- Provide pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permitted.
- Comply with all federal, state, and CVS Health policies regarding safety, privacy, and controlled substances.
- Active Pharmacist license in the state of the store location.
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
- Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support staffing as needed.
- Regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within designated time frames.
- Attention, focus, and ability to confirm prescription accuracy.
- Customer service orientation and effective communication with patients and colleagues.
- Mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations.
- Problem‑resolution skills for challenging interactions.
- Physical ability to lift, reach, and work with repetitive motions as required by the role.
- Additional tasks as directed by supervisor or manager.
- 1–2 years of related experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
Annual base salary: $65,000 – $81,000. Eligible for bonus, commission, or incentive programs. Comprehensive benefits include medical, 401(k) with matching, retirement plans, tuition assistance, and paid time off.
