Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse – Psychiatric supports patients participating in a detox and addiction treatment program by providing clinical monitoring, documentation, and patient support during the withdrawal and recovery process. This role helps ensure patient safety and promotes a supportive therapeutic environment while collaborating closely with the treatment team.
The detox program provides 24-hour nursing care to monitor an individual's withdrawal from alcohol and/or other drugs and alleviate symptoms. Clients receive medical and emotional support during one of the most pivotal stages of the recovery process. This role will function similarly to a school nurse schedule and will be considered part of the leadership team as the program collaborates closely with clinical staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Record and report observed symptoms, reactions to treatment, and changes in patient safety status.
Administer medications to patients as required by treatment protocols.
Collaborate with the care team to provide health information and maintain accurate medical records.
Respond to patient care needs and assist patients with activities of daily living.
Promote a positive therapeutic environment for patients undergoing detox and recovery.
Assist with patient admission, discharge, and transfer processes.
Participate in treatment team meetings and assist with the development of care plans.
Support program leadership by collaborating with staff and maintaining effective communication regarding patient status and care plans.
Required Experience:
Valid and current Massachusetts licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Current CPR certification.
Experience in clinical nursing environments.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
Experience working in addiction treatment services or behavioral health programs.
Experience supporting detox or substance use disorder treatment programs.
Experience working in multidisciplinary care teams.
