About the Role

The Applications Engineer (AE) will be working in a hybrid role, from home and from our office in Tewksbury, MA and will be at the forefront of delivering tailored solutions within the test and measurement industry. Your role will involve collaborating closely with clients to understand their technical needs and challenges, utilizing your expertise to design and implement customized applications using Pickering Interfaces' cutting-edge hardware and software solutions.

From conducting product demonstrations and providing technical pre-sales support to offering post-sales assistance and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, your contributions will be pivotal in ensuring customer success. This position requires a strong technical background, proficiency in programming languages, and effective communication skills to engage with both clients and internal teams. Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to customers by diagnosing hardware and software issues for PXI systems, modules, and drivers.
  • Technical Consultation:
    Collaborate with customers to comprehend their technical requirements and challenges within the test and measurement industry.
  • Custom Solutions:
    Design, develop, and implement customized applications and interface solutions using Pickering Interfaces’ products to meet client specifications.
  • Product Demonstrations:
    Conduct product demonstrations and training sessions to showcase the capabilities of Pickering Interfaces’ hardware and software solutions.
  • Pre-sales Support:
    Work closely with the sales team to provide technical expertise in pre-sales activities, including technical presentations, solution proposals, and customer interactions.
  • Post-sales Support:
    Provide ongoing technical support, troubleshoot issues, and guide customers through successful integration and utilization of Pickering Interfaces’ solutions.
  • Create, modify, and debug example code and driver wrappers in LabVIEW, C#, C++, and Python to reproduce and resolve issues.
  • Develop and present hardware/software pre-sales proofs-of-concept/demos to external customers online or in person.
  • Analyze diagnostic/error reports, logs, test outputs, and product data/spec sheets.
  • Provide real time support via online web chat.
  • Answer customer questions on Pickering products via email, phone call, or through online web chat.
  • Coordinate cross-team investigations with Software Engineering, Repair/Manufacturing, Product Management, and Sales to drive root-cause analysis and fixes.
  • Participate and demonstrate to customers in marketing conferences as technical resource.
  • Develop and test examples for customer delivery, including driver-specific examples (VISA/Direct I/O/IVI), and support deployment with NI tools such as NI MAX, Test Stand, and Switch Executive.
  • Knowledge Sharing:
    Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements, and Pickering Interfaces’ product updates. Share insights and best practices with customers and internal teams.
  • Coordinate and manage hardware RMA returns between customers and internal teams.
  • Manage RMAs end to end, including fault verification, coordination with manufacturing and repair teams, and customer communication.

    Collaboration:

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, to provide valuable feedback on product performance, contribute to improvements, and influence the development of new features.

    Create comprehensive documentation, including application notes and technical guides, to enhance the knowledge base and support both internal and external stakeholders.
