Harris in Tewkesbury is our HQ for our Intelligence & Cyber International the land domain our T7 and T4 multi‑mission robots deliver next‑generation remote capabilities and uncompromised performance. We design and manufacture world‑leading land force protection systems, cyber and electromagnetic activities (CEMA), electronic warfare (EW) and encryption capabilities. Our cyber capabilities provide an information advantage in the fields of kinetic conflict, cyber warfare, force protection and counter‑terrorism.
We’re looking for a Software Engineering Industrial Placement to join us for 12 months from September 2026 to support projects across our Information Resilience and Electronic Warfare portfolios. Reporting to one of our Software Engineering Leads and working in a cross‑functional team you’ll be involved in the design, development and implementation of software for embedded systems control and real‑time applications. You’ll also support the integration of developed software on the target hardware with other system components and firmware, devising appropriate test procedures both informal and formal to prove the correct operation of software.
This role provides fantastic opportunities to develop technical skills across multiple projects, gaining valuable experience whilst making a difference.

The role requires the following experience and skills:
- On track to achieve at least a 2:1 in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar discipline.
- Experience with C and/or C++ is ideal but Python, Rust and/or C# are also an advantage.
- Appreciation of Continuous Integration and Dev Ops tools such as Git Lab/Jenkins.
- Willingness to learn and a tenacious approach to problem solving.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a self‑starter – able to work as part of a team as well as using your own initiative.
- A demonstrable passion for engineering and technology keeping up to date with latest innovations.
Due to the nature of our work many of our roles require a UK nationality and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
