Responsibilities- Coordinate and oversee all activities of the CTD Department to ensure staff are properly oriented, trained, and competent for each facility position.
- Plan, design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate all facility training programs and continuing‑education opportunities.
- Analyze training needs, prepare instructional materials, and coordinate training sessions.
- Ensure sufficient class offerings to meet expected facility training compliance and provide continuing education.
- Supervise and develop CTD Department staff, delegating assignments and ensuring competency and timely evaluations.
- Ensure 95% training compliance for staff, develop curriculum and training manuals, and maintain training rooms, equipment, and materials.
- Respond to audit reports, maintain survey‑readiness status, and prepare training reports as required by internal and external standards.
- Act as liaison with Central Administration, State Office, educational institutions, and local colleges to coordinate education programs and schedule courses.
- Serve as backup instructor for Training Specialists and support the facility’s needs as required.
- Participate in disaster response, recovery, or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activations, which may involve alternate shift patterns or locations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures relevant to the facility, HHSC, the State of Texas, and the CTD Department.
- Knowledge of adult education principles, practices, and techniques.
- Knowledge of training procedures and methods.
- Knowledge of group processes, dynamics, and interpersonal relations.
- Skill in designing, writing, editing, and producing educational, informational, and technical materials for diverse audiences.
- Skill in analyzing data for the production of training materials and required departmental reports.
- Skill in dealing with facility staff in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to lead, instruct, and motivate others in a professional manner.
- Ability to analyze training needs and evaluate training effectiveness.
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple tasks efficiently, effectively, and concurrently.
- Ability to use computer systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet), and other training software.
- Ability to use charts, graphs, spreadsheets, and other technological tools.
- Ability to express oneself clearly both verbally and in writing in a professional manner.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and make varied decisions within broad guidelines/parameters.
- Must possess a valid Texas driver license or obtain it within 90 days after hire date.
