Role Overview

The Family Case Manager Supervisor directs and supervises a team that provides protective services to children and families. The team delivers social services to maintain children in safe and positive family units or works with the court systems to remove children from their families to place them in protective environments. You will facilitate an integrated learning environment for staff and a culture of respect for children, families, and support persons.

This position is in Terre Haute, Indiana, and will serve Vigo County, and surrounding counties as needed.

Salary

This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $59,800 but may be commensurate with education and job experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

Responsibilities

A Day in the Life:

  • Prioritize work of subordinate supervisors and staff within the department and ensure that deadlines are met. This includes assessment of the risk to the child when a complaint call is received and staff is not available to respond to all calls.
  • Supervise and assign work to subordinate supervisors. Set standards based on federal, state, and judicial system regulations and guidelines. Monitor the flow and quality of work. Schedule on-call rotation of Family Case Managers 2’s.
  • Reassign work to maintain equitable distribution and cover vacant caseloads.
  • Ensure effective monitoring and accountability of staff to meet the best interests of children, including direct reports, and align goals and objectives across staff.
  • Promote responsible case planning and connect families with appropriate resources. Manage employee travel, time reporting and overtime for efficiency and cost control.
  • Establish and interpret policy and objectives to staff.
  • Provide training on new programs and developments to Family Case Managers and other staff.
  • Identify problems and provide training and development opportunities to resolve them.
  • Identify employee training needs and prepare training plans.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and maintain records for assigned employees.
  • Interview applicants for vacant positions and make recommendations for hiring or promotion.
  • Review and/or authorize leave requests for Family Case Managers and other staff under supervision.
  • Identify behaviors or performance not aligning with the department’s vision, mission, and core values; recommend corrective action as needed.
  • Assist leadership in establishing long-term goals and objectives; set and implement department goals.
  • Ensure adherence to the Practice Model, policies, regulations, and procedures. Maintain professional and ethical contacts with clients and all involved parties.
  • Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to clarify role responsibilities and support ongoing professional development.
  • Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate performance; ensure work adheres to quality standards and deadlines.
