The Physical Therapist – Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13‑week assignments and work in a variety of settings. On assignment the therapist assesses needs, develops, and delivers personalized physical therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation, and makes referrals to other disciplines as needed.
- Implement individualized therapy programs designed to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance.
- Instruct, educate, and train patients and caregivers in essential skills to promote independence and productivity.
- Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with licensure requirements.
- Adhere to established plans of care, schedules, and timely documentation of services.
- Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing, and other related meetings.
- Consult with the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen.
- Promote a safe environment and enforce fire and safety hazards elimination.
- Order supplies and equipment, and maintain and report equipment needs.
- Cleans, maintains, and reports the need for repair of equipment.
- Screen, examine, and evaluate patients; synthesize and interpret findings to establish diagnosis, identify impairments, and determine predicted improvement levels.
- Develop treatment goals and methods collaboratively with patients and caregivers; implement the plan and complete all related documentation.
- Provide therapeutic techniques, including:
- Therapeutic exercise (aerobic capacity, balance, coordination, agility, body mechanics, postural stabilization, flexibility, gait, neuromotor development, relaxation, strength, power, endurance)
- Functional training
- Manual therapy
- Airway clearance techniques
- Integumentary repair and protection
- Use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent, and mechanical modalities
- Design, fabricate, fit, and apply adaptive devices, including orthotics and prosthetics; train patients in device use.
- Select appropriate activities based on individual capacity, intelligence level, and interests.
- Instruct patients in mobility skills and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior related to rehabilitation potential.
- Conduct routine reexamination as needed to modify or progress treatment plans.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Valid Physical Therapy license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license and eligibility.
- Master's degree in Physical Therapy, or Master's degree in a Physical Therapy related field plus a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy.
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy plus five years of progressively responsible PT experience.
- Availability to travel to and temporarily reside in locations outside of the therapist's primary home.
- Physical Therapy degree earned outside of the U.S. must be evaluated as equivalent to a U.S. PT degree.
USD 55.00 – USD 70.00 per hour.
