Pay Range

- Base pay range: $19.00/hr - $19.00/hr (actual pay based on your skills and experience).
- 40+ hour work week, overtime after 40 hours, on call schedule in support of crisis, nights and weekends periodically.

Position Summary

The CCBHC Certified Peer Support Specialist will provide case coordination, outreach, and advocacy services to individuals entering CCBHC. They will provide initial screening and referral services, assist in conducting initial health screenings and developing coordinated treatment plans, and support clients in a comprehensive set of services including 24/7 crisis services, outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment, risk assessments, and care coordination with emergency rooms, law enforcement, and veteran groups.

  • Assist consumers in articulating personal goals for recovery.
  • Assist consumers in determining reasonable and holistic steps toward recovery.
  • Assist consumers in identifying barriers to recovery goals.
  • Assist consumers in identifying personal strengths and recovery skills.
  • Observe and reinforce positive progress.
  • Teach problem‑solving skills.
  • Teach consumers to identify and combat negative self‑talk.
  • Teach consumers how to identify and overcome fears.
  • Support vocational choices and assist with job‑related anxieties.
  • Build social skills through demonstration and reinforcement.
  • Attend treatment team meetings and medication appointments as requested.
  • Use recovery experience to teach and role‑model value of recovery.
  • Maintain effective coping and self‑help techniques.
  • Maintain professional certification through required coursework.
  • Attend relevant seminars and staff trainings whenever offered.
  • Investigate community resources for appropriateness of services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and avoid dual relationships.
  • Support treatment team objectives and strategies.
  • Fulfill documentation requirements of employer accurately within 24 hours of service end time.
  • Use inclusive, culturally appropriate language and attitudes.
  • Meet job expectations as specified in the Employee Handbook.
  • Observe consumer behaviors and communicate significant observations to managers.
  • Document information regarding consumer care and behavior as required.
  • Administer, document, store, and remit consumer drug oral/urine screen results.
  • Enter and retrieve data using computer or terminal.
  • Maintain administrative files and records.
  • Monitor environment for cleanliness and safety; report needs for repair.
  • Maintain open communication with managers and agencies involved in consumer care.
  • Notify staff and assist in responding to emergency situations.
  • Conduct and assist with therapeutic activities as assigned.
  • Participate in required clinical supervision and complete HCI OBHP training modules within 90 days of hire.
Minimum Qualifications / Requirements
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Individual living in recovery with a mental health and/or substance use condition (or family member of such individual).
  • Maintaining healthy recovery for a minimum of one year.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and written communication proficiency.
  • Complete state‑approved training program and pass certification exam within six months of hire date.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration
  • Valid driver’s license in accordance with company policy.
  • American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
  • Peer certification (once obtained).
